Ron Barber attends NAMI Walk and Tucson’s Welcome Home Veterans Parade

March 31st, 2012

Tucson, AZ –This morning Ron Barber spoke with Southern Arizonans at two Tucson events, the NAMI Walk for Southern Arizona and the Tucson Welcome Home Veterans Parade. Ron kicked off the NAMI Walk program by addressing the group just after 8 a.m.

Thousands of people participated today in the event which is sponsored by the National Alliance on Mental Illness, a nationwide organization that focuses on helping Americans affected by mental illness build better lives by offering services, finding support and fighting stigma. Barber served as honorary chair of the event and was excited to participate in the walk. “Team Ron Barber” a group of supporters, led by Emily Nottingham, completed the 5k walk this morning.

Tucson’s Welcome Home Veterans Parade began at 10:30 a.m. and featured Southern Arizonans paying tribute to our veterans and active servicemen and women of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. The parade route traveled through the streets of downtown, which were lined by citizens thanking the troops for their service.

Yesterday, Barber attended a Ceremony Honoring Fallen Troops at Pima Community College Downtown Campus. He was honored to pay tribute to the service and sacrifice of our servicemembers and their families.
